Health screenings and tests

  • HIV rapid testing

  • Blood pressure

  • Blood glucose

  • Oxygen saturation

  • Pulse

  • Height and weight

The Vitals team provides basic screenings to all patients. We assess blood pressure, blood sugar, oxygen saturation, pulse, height and weight. These measurements help assess general physical health and are important in monitoring diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. Additionally, HIV rapid testing is available. If a patient tests newly positive, they can receive confirmatory HIV testing free of charge at Temple Comprehensive, our affiliated site.

Acute Medical care

The Medical team offers members of the North Philadelphia community the chance to receive a general check-up and to address acute or chronic health care concerns, completely free of cost. A student team, composed of lower and upper year medical students, begins every visit by collecting a medical history and conducting a physical exam. Next, the team presents this information to a Temple physician and together they develop a diagnosis and treatment plan. The physician then assesses the patient to confirm the diagnosis and make any necessary modifications to the plan. In addition to providing accessible health care to the North Philadelphia community, the THRIVE Medical Team offers medical students the opportunity to apply knowledge and clinical skills acquired in classes and rotations to a diverse range of patients.

Health Literacy and Advocacy

At Advocacy, we focus on the patient's whole story. We try to take in and understand the obstacles that our patients face and then connect them with resources that allow for their empowerment when facing those obstacles. These resources include but are not limited to: connecting patients with primary care providers, substance dependence support, HIV maintenance programs, mental health support, and medical specialty care.

Pharmacy

At Pharmacy, we are the last people that the patients see. We try to send them off with encouragement, compassion, and a few general hygiene products to get them through the week. In addition, as the station name implies we provide over the counter medications for many health related issues. Pharmacy is the station where we ask the patients for feedback about the services that Thrive Clinic offers and then efficiently incorporate the feedback that we receive. Many patient recommendations have led us to improve the items that pharmacy offers such as shower shoes, shampoo and conditioner, body lotion and many other products.  Our goal is to recognize the humanity of these patients and help them feel cared for and supported.
